Iamtripsy : 2nd Place Winner of The Bestffa Contest

Today we are interviewing our 2nd place winner of the #bestffacontest @iamtripsy

1. Tell us more about yourself and the work you do?
My name is Derrick Bruno Pappoe. I'll be 21 come next month. I was born in the capital city of Ghana, brought up in different regions in the country, and currently living in capital city. I don't work right now cuz I'm schooling.

2. How were you inspired to pursue this kind of career?
Drawing was one of the early skills I picked up when I was a kid. I tried painting in middle school but was a disaster. But it helped lay the foundation for digital editing.

3. Can you tell us what style of art you do and how you developed your own style?
I am mostly space based style. That's the whole thing about my edits. Space elements can be incorporated into alot of things so it's  hard to get a hold of a specific edit style. With developing my own style, I'm still figuring it out at the moment. Getting a style that works for you and your audience is not something that comes so easily. Takes lots of trials and erros so I'm in the phase of my editing process.

 4. Can you name an artist/s that you look up to? How have they influenced you?
Right now I look up to @thinklumi for his awesome vibrant space art. I love that style a lot. Would want to imitate but don't think it would work for me. It influenced my previous edit though.
I also look up to @tmdesigns_. She's relatively new but her editing style is so unique. She makes the most simplest things work so well together. Third artist I look up to is @tiagoaleixo for his colour blending skills. He's just a fun artist to follow and is pretty friendly as well.

5. What is your typical daily routine like?
My typical daily routine revolves around my PC.... I wake up, eat while practicing, go for lectures, come practice again, eat and then go to bed. That's basically my everyday life.

6. How do you go about creating a piece? Can you share with us your creative process?
I start with an idea. Mostly I don't know where the creative process will end up. But I first sketch something resembling the idea I have in mind, Second I search for the stocks to match the idea I have. After I've found them. I put all into photoshop and then start creating different styles from the same idea. Third, I select the one I like most and then remake it but this time I record... I end up making changes to the piece itself cuz somehow the changes I make to the edit makes it look nicer and gives it more meaning. Lastly I don't rush. I leave the piece alone and then think of ways to improve it. So I mostly spend more than three days on an edit. An hour each day. Working and making changes. The reason I do this is to familiarize myself with the edit and also give me time to analysis and correct mistakes.

7. Do you get creative blocks from time to time? How do you overcome it? What advice can you share to overcome it?
I get them alot, but I don't hate them. They are good ways to help me relax and to take a break for a day or two.. Maybe a week from editing and just read books and watch movies. Thinking about edits continually can be tiring and when you're just editing all the time, you can come up with pretty unimpressive pieces. And you make mistakes alot. Tho it's good to practice everyday but I sometimes take a break. But if you insist on practicing and editing even when you hit a creative block. Try spending time remaking some your old edits. Helps sharpen your skills and you can learn new things too or better style apply skills you've learnt ever since making the edit.

8. What are the things you do to get inspired? What are your typical movies, music, activities, etc.?
I for one is a big anime fan.Anime such as One piece and Tokyo ghoul are my current favorites.. But I love sci-fi movies... They inspire me alot. Reading light novel also help inspire me to get awesome ideas to create.

9. Which of your works is your favorite? Can you describe it to us and why it is special?
My current favorite edit is called Unleash. It's special cuz it decribes my inner thoughts.

10. What is your fututure goals/plans?
To become a Software creator and administrator. Would also want to become a lawyer cuz I love the career.

11. Do you have any favourite mantra that gives you any type of motivation or can give others inspiration?
Life is too short to be stay negative, Move forward in the face of adversity and keep your hope alive and live everyday like its your last. PS... That's my own mantra. Hope it inspires you.

12. Where can people find your art or purchase any of your work if available? (social media links and store links)
